Day 1 - Hope

This post kicks off the start of my 366 day long journey of blogging about at least 1 thing that has made me smile that day. And what better day to start than on the first day of a new year!

Yesterday at dusk, I watched in silence as the sun sunk beneath the horizon on the last day of 2011.


With midnight only a few minutes away, delectable champagne was popped, poured and consumed.


As the clock hit 12am, bursts of woven golden clusters filled the night sky with brilliant cascading stars.


At 5:25am while watching Megafactories: Coca-Cola on the National Geographic Channel, I caught a glimpse of the beginning of what would be the first sunrise of the year 2012.


And that brings me to what has brought a smile to my face today - hope.

I know today is just like another day, however there is something almost magical in the air on the first day of a brand new year. As I wonder what this year holds for myself, my friends and family, my country, and the rest of the world, I can't help but feel nervous yet giddy with excitement at the same time.

I can't wait to uncover what this year will bring. I am hopeful, and it's a pretty good feeling.
